Every now and then, a wedding comes along that makes me emotional. I’m not talking about the usual, tears-during-the-vows moment that I experience prettttty much every time. I mean the “I can’t believe I get to do this” feeling that takes over my heart. This was one of those days; I just felt so lucky to be there. Fair warning: this may be my longest blog post to date, and that’s because I had a hard time choosing favorites.
It was a wedding years in the making, since Annie and Luke have been a couple since middle school. Let me say– I teach 8th grade, and as far as I can tell, none of my students really seem destined to be soulmates. God knew what He was doing, because Luke and Annie grew up together and are now in their final year of college together. They’ve experienced a lot of “firsts” together, and this was my first wedding in the south! Traveling to South Carolina for this stunning backyard day was such a blast! Annie’s family lives in the most gorgeous home I’ve ever seen, and it was the perfect setting for their big day.
If I were ever to plan a wedding, the aesthetic would be very similar to Annie’s vision. I LOVE neutral colors, greenery, and fun details (like the guys’ floral ties)! Needless to say, I was in photographer heaven. I’m proud of these photos, not just because I love where I am as an artist, but because I’m envisioning Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher looking at these pictures in 60 years, as their grandchildren run around in the same backyard.
This is a valentine that Luke gave to Annie in 8th grade… and she kept it all this time.
The sweetest, most beautiful group of girls… inside and out!
Seeing herself for the first time, as a BRIDE…
… and her best friends’ first time seeing her!
I told Annie she looked like Cinderella, with all the birds around her… haha.
One of my new favorite bridal portraits.
Reading a sweet letter from Annie…
The guys! They were so fun, and just as kind-hearted.
A handsome groom and such a nice friend. Happy for you, Luke!
Shameless plug for Fletcher Films.
It didn’t hurt that everything in Annie’s home is a gorgeous shade of white. Obsessed with this color palette!
I was in photographer heaven all day. Annie, you are STUNNING!
First look with Dad. Here we go again… crying.
Ceremony time! Can we take a minute to appreciate Springvine Design’s beautiful florals?
Look at the sweet ring bearer’s face in this one… so proud.
Luke’s family came from Maryland for the wedding, too, and I have a feeling they would have traveled across the entire world for this.
That flower arch… sigh…
“Hey, let’s throw the bride in the air. It’d be super casual.” — Groomsmen
Annie’s family also has a lake on their property, so naturally we had to use it.
I need new adjectives other than “gorgeous,” “stunning,” and “beautiful.” … but the decor at this wedding was all of those things and more.
Seriously, belongs in a magazine.
During dinner, we ran (literally) back outside. You can’t tell, but straight out of camera, it was DARK. The sun had already tucked behind the trees. A lot of editing later… I’m happy with how these turned out!
Love that Annie changed into a fun, flowy skirt for these!
This reception was such a party! I have so many hilarious dancing shots… and some sweet ones:
